At Sunny Health DPC, hormone optimization is not about giving everyone hormones or chasing “perfect” lab numbers. Our approach combines women’s health, family medicine, and lifestyle medicine to help each patient feel better while supporting long-term health.

Here are the three principles that guide our approach:

1. Use hormones only when they are truly needed

Not every woman needs hormone replacement therapy.

Fatigue, weight changes, poor sleep, brain fog, low mood, and changes in libido may be related to hormones, but they can also come from thyroid problems, nutritional deficiencies, stress, medications, or other health conditions.

We consider the whole person, including symptoms, medical history, lifestyle, risk factors, and appropriate lab results, before recommending treatment.

2. Find the right dose, not the highest dose

More hormone does not necessarily mean better results.

Our goal is to find a safe, sustainable dose that improves symptoms and supports overall well-being. Because every patient responds differently, treatment should be personalized, monitored, and adjusted when needed.

Hormone optimization is about balance, not excess.

3. Choose body-identical hormones when appropriate

When suitable, we often prefer FDA-approved hormones that are chemically identical to those naturally produced by the body, such as estradiol and micronized progesterone.

However, “bioidentical” does not automatically mean safer or risk-free. The specific hormone, dose, delivery method, and patient’s medical history all matter. Compounded hormones may have a role in certain situations, but they are not automatically better than FDA-approved options.

The Sunny Health DPC Approach

Hormones are only one part of healthy aging. Nutrition, movement, muscle strength, quality sleep, stress management, and emotional well-being remain essential.

Our goal is not simply to prescribe hormones. We want to understand what is changing in each patient’s body, identify other factors that may be contributing to symptoms, and create a plan that is safe, practical, and personalized.

The Sunny Health DPC approach: the right patient, the right hormone, and the right dose.
