What is Semaglutide?
Semaglutide (Brand name Ozempic) is an injectable medication used in combination with diet and exercise, which helps with blood sugar and weight loss. Semaglutide belongs to a class of medications called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1 Agonist, which help control blood sugar, slow down gastric emptying, in addition to causing your pancreas to release insulin and blocks glucagon (hormone) that causes your liver to release sugar.
Together, these functions can help you feel less hungry and curb your appetite. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the brand Wegovy. We do not prescribe Semaglutide under the brand name. We start patients with a compounded dose for the first month and slowly increase the dosages for the subsequent months.

Side effects and Contraindications. The most common side effects of Semaglutide are nausea. But we take proactive measures through education to mitigate this effect. Additionally, we also administer vitamin B-6, which helps to curb any nausea.

Absolute contraindications to Semaglutide Diet:
Personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer
Type 1 Diabetes
Pancreatitis
Decreased kidney function
